Jennifer McCabe
L.LB (Hons), Dip Psych (Oxon), MBACP (Accred).
Before joining the masters’ programme in Psychodynamic Studies at Oxford University, I represented vulnerable adults in the community and worked with NHS mental health and community services in a professional capacity for many years.
I have a thorough grounding in psychoanalytic theory and can provide weekly psychotherapy sessions to patients with problems such as depression, anxiety, and sleep or eating disorders. It might be that you lived in fear of someone else's uncontrollable anger or mood swings and you need help to cope with how this has left you feeling. I have helped people who feel stuck and helpless, to feel more alive and worthwhile.
Since qualifying I have undertaken British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) accredited training in counselling for young people, although the majority of my work is with adults.
I have completed an infant observation with the British Psychotherapy Foundation to inform my work helping people recover from trauma, and completed EMDR training with Alexandra Richman and I am currently working towards becoming accredited with EMDR Europe.
In the therapy room you will find that I am easy to be with because I am interested in people and I have lots of life experience. Finding the right person in the therapist is just as important as qualifications, experience, or even the type of therapy being offered. For this reason, I would encourage you to have a free initial consultation with me before you invest in what is, after all, the beginning of a unique therapeutic relationship.
